I helped my friend F.E put together a photoshoot for her new line of mens clothing. She designed a line of really clean modern looking clothing, scarfs, and a little caplette. I was really impressed to see her finished products! I brought fellow Hairroin addict, Noel Nichols to do some simple mens grooming makeup and i styled model, Matthew's hair. The photographer, Rush is one of F.E.'s friends. It was so nice to have a team of all friends working together! We started our shoot off in Downtown, LA where we took some studio shots against a simple grey backdrop. Our second location was in Silverlake where we shot on the balconies of an amazing old brick building.
I'll update with the finished shots as soon as i get them in. Here are some behind the scenes photos.

3D nail art
part 1: blog written by Dani (Front Desk coordinator of Hairroin Salon)
So, what happens when you mix Hairroin Addicts and AWSOME mani. pedi's together? You get Marie Nails. Just another one of La's best kept secrets, and trust me, Marie's is just that! The nail boutique, which resembels a cute little house, is employeed with the nicest staff, ever. As soon as you walk in the door, youre greeted by the entire staff, so cute!! You can enjoy anthing from a casual french manicure and pedicure to off the wall glitter acrylic with amazing japanese nail art. Currently, my addiction is a seafoam green nail polish on my hands and toes, and on my pointer fingers, i have an icecream cone with vanilla icecream, and on the other finger i have a cupcake surrounded by multi colored jewels! YES! thats right, i have sweets, on my fingers. CRAZY! Everytime i go to check out a client, people are grabbing my hands asking where i get my nails done, and im constantly passing out their cards. Its amazing just watching the girls sit there and make all these awsome little treats out of gel..This place is my treat to myself every 2 weeks, and trust me, i prebook all my appointments right before i leave.Hm...i wonder what my next design will be, your options are endless..oh the choices!!! So, wether youre looking for a realxing day at the nail spa, or some intense nail art, i HIGHLY recommend Maries, I give you my word, you wont be disappointed! So what are you waiting for .. GO!
part 2: blog written by Shondra (Manager of Hairroin Salon)
No doubt about it...Dani has told the truth. Marie Nails is where its at. For 4 hours a month this is our escape. We get to enjoy a relaxing mani/pedi with the greatest variety of designs amongst the friendliest staff. It isn't easy trying to decide what your fancy of the day, or should I say 2 weeks will be because there are so many awesome colors and designs to choose from. Right now I would have to say my forte is spicing up my usual short natural black nails with a color of choice and design on just one finger. This weeks manicure I decided upon yellow (my favorite color) topped off with a cute black bow with white centers. As for the toes...ALL yellow baby... a nice compliment to my cupcake tattoo on the left foot :-) Oh yea, my manicure is always topped with a gel overlay!! You are practically guarenteed no chipping in between appointments with this, not to mention how SHINY they look!!! There is no saying what I will decide on for next appointment but I can guarantee it will be AMAZING. To take a sneak peek at this wonderful nail art check out the picture of Dani and my this weeks creation and stay tuned for all the updates!!

Mat pliable stucco for wizards
Davines
I have been personally addicted to this product for some time now. It provides me the support and structure my hair needs to achieve that "greaser" look, with still maintaining a pliable, dry texture. I put it in towel dried hair and, using a blow drier and a denmen brush, style into a pompadour or a new take on a fifties style side part. Using a warm blow drier really helps set the product into the hair. I especially like hoe it looks when I wake up. I get a very Ricky Ricardo playing "Babaloo" disheveled look.
You gotta stop by the shop and pick this stuff up! Have fun experimenting and please share with us all the new ways you like using it!

Dani Doom gets a haircut
blog written by Marcy (Master Stylist at Hairroin Salon)
Hey everyone Last week we cut off Dani's hair! I have never cut Dani's hair because Sarah usually does it, but Sarah was unable to do it this time so I took a crack at it... I came into work and she had a picture of the front of a supercool cut and asked if I thought it was good for her. I loved at and we got to work as soon as I had a break. Dani's hair had extentions that needed to be removed first so it was a day long affair. I cut an asymmetric fring with the left side left long and then on the right side I opened the whole side up and it wraps around to meet the long side. SO CUTE!!!!

LA Fashion Week at BOXeight.
blog written by Irene (Master stylist at Hairroin Salon)
This is my first blog for Hairroin salon. My name is Irene .... and I'm a Hairroin addict, master stylist, cancer survivor, voice of reason, chola at heart, product junkie, education whore, urban trend tracker, sneaker junkie, DJ enthusiast, fashion obsessed mad woman who will CUT you or your hair at the drop of a dime. And you will love me for it. Ive been with Hairroin since its conception.
L.A. Fashion week.
Hairroin Salon always represents. Box eight hosted a showcase of fashion that kicked off the week at the stunning Los Angeles Theater. This year we had the opportunity of working with Sonia Vero and J.Gerard. Mr. Luis Payne (this man is brillant) was the key hairstylist who came up with hair looks to compliment each collection.
Sonia Vero was luxury swim/resort wear, and lets face it... in Los Angeles a swimsuit is necessary year round. Weather is pretty consistent here, consistently sunny. Ive spent many Christmas mornings having mimosas poolside. The hair was given a Hairrion signature 'foxy blowdry' set a term that was coined by our hair mentor of coolness Marcy Kim. Then followed by pieceing the hair out to have that rich luxuroius Malibu beach look, not to be confused with the Santa Monica beach look as Mr. Payne put it. I mean if your bathing suit is to expensive to get in the water.. shouldn't your hair reflect the same image. (I told you he was brillant)
The last show of the night was J.Gerard, with a midnight showtime. Since I do my best work around midnight I was pleased when Mr. Payne gave us the 1960's babydoll direction. One of my faves, weather its flowerchild, long straight hair with a middle part, or lots of volume with a full fringe.... Im into it. The models all walked to Bob Dlyan songs that couldnt have been more complimentary. You really got a feel for the collection. J. Gerard was telling you a rock n' roll story. See you next season kids.

Davines World Wide Hair Tour
blog written by Marcy (Master Stylist at Hairroin Salon)
The Davines world hair competition is coming up again, I can't wait to get my shoot underway. Last year they didn't have it so I was surprised to hear that it's on again. I was the winner for North America two years ago and I got to go and compete in Barcelona with 10 other people for Asia, Europe and South America. I had to do a cut and color on stage with a model - it was a little nerve wracking... I was not the winner of the entire event, but it was ok with me. The winner gets to go back to the competition the next year and have 15 min. on stage to do what they think is inspirational. I was Pregnant and would not have been able to go anyway... So fast forward to this year and my photoshoot... I will be shooting Beatrice (another stylist at Hairroin) again- she's the best model- I think I will be doing a really simple idea of cute pencil jeans with suspenders or a jumper with lots of lashes and just her cute ass haircut. I am using a white screen and brite lights. I hope
it will be fast and easy... I love the team I am working with - Steven Barston -photographer and Noel Nichols doing make-up. I'll let you guys know how it turns out...
here is a photo of last year's entry

what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas
Blog written by Janine (Owner of Hairroin Salon)
I was in las Vegas doing a go daddy commercial for my client Danika Patrick (super star race car driver). the job had both its ups and downs as well as its challenges and firsts for me... My first time doing a full color ,baliage, haircut in an RV van. pictured you can see me shampooing out Danika hair
.... challenging with a spitting shower head to say the least. the cut and color were successfull. On to the the shoot, which was outside with 40 mile an hour winds and 45 degrees. Needless to say long thick freshly washed and curled hair was no match for the wind. Poor Danika was being attacked by her own hair the entire 6 hour shoot!
day 2: we shoot a casino scene. thankfully no weather issues to deal with . bellow pictured is the scooter Carleen Danika and my self hijacked from the other go daddy girl , and also one of my favorite clients Candice Michelle(wwe diva ) who broke her foot only days before. now I'm not a huge fan of Vegas but if your gonna do it... do it on a scooter! hair on the go is always an adventure. but i miss my Hairroin the second im gone.

blog written by Beatrice (Senior Stylist at Hairroin Salon)
I came across the website www.mopshots.com the other day. It's a website through citysearch.com that helps people find hair salons by showing photos of cute hairstyles that have come out of it! I submitted some photos of my self, with my latest Tank Girl inspired haircut. This haircut was done by Monique, and color by Dalina, but I've had my hair cut by every stylist at the salon.
I'm excited for client's to start submitting photos of their recent Hairroin Hair Do's.

eye kandy
blog written by Noel Nichols (Makeup artist at Hairroin Salon)
Hey Everyone! This is my first official blog and I am so happy that it's for Hairroin Salon.
Today I discovered the most amazing product from a line called Eye Kandy. They have over 50 colors of their "Sprinkles Glitter", which is a loose glitter that has no metallic or glass. I know a lot of you have gone to the craft store and bought craft glitter for the face but it's not so safe to use around the eyes. You use the "Liquid Sugar" to bond the product to your skin and it goes on like a beautiful, opaque, sparkling wet dream, and stays on all day, no joke.
Now I tend to be the kind of makeup artist who leans toward beauty makeup, but I can't wait for my first opportunity to unleash my inner Diana Ross with the Confetti color on a smokin hot model. Sometimes a girl needs a little Eye Kandy.
Check it out at www.eyekandycosmetics.com
And don't be scared off by their ads, when used the correct way the product is phenonmenal.

Marcy's oscar weekend.
blog written by Marcy (Master Stylist at Hairroin Salon)
Hey everyone, I just wanted to tell you a little bit about my oscar weekend...
I think los angeles is a crazy place, you can meet the coolest people and go to the craziest parties, then go home and just live a regular life...
I started my weekend on Saturday night after a super busy day at the salon. I went to my friend laser's birthday party at Lucy liu's house in the canyon. It was so fun. Her place is so beautiful and relaxing. A beautiful pool and the tulip magnolia trees I love . Laser is her interior decorator, so her place is off the charts - of course. We just drank wine and hung out for a few hours. Really nice. I didn't want to stay long because I had a busy day the next day- oscar day.
I had two different sets of people to to for the day. One directed Kung fu panda and the other produced a documentory short about the man who witnessed martin Luther king's assasination. I was hopeful that one-if not both would win.
I went to my first client's house and cut and styled john's hair and set and styled his wife. Her dress was amazing- vintage French lace made into a corseted beauty. He was in a tux- of course. I felt like they were all good, so I split to my second client's house...
I got to margaret's house none too soon. Her limo was scheduled to be there in two hours and she needed to have hair, make-up and get dressed. We decided on a version on the fa-bob. Loosly put up with waves. I set her hair and did a mini French twist on the bottom and pulled back a few, but not everything from the front. She went to make-up. NBC was there to do a piece on her about people going to the oscar's for the first time- it was chaos. She was wearing a beautiful black long dress with six inch heels- ouch. She looked radiant. I cried- for real...
I watched the show that night and caught glimpses of my people and got excited. By the end - neither of my people won, but it was still fun to be a part of their cool ass day.

the BOW peeps.
blog written by Beatrice (Senior Stylist at Hairroin Salon)
It's no secret, I LOVE bows. I have one tattooed on the back of my neck, and i am usually found wearing some kind of bow accessory. Bows are classic, and so so girly... to me they are the ultimate in cuteness.
Lately I've noticed a trend of really over sized bows...
being worn on top of the head:
bows as clothing:
and my favorite, bows made of hair!
as seen on the runway:
and on Lady Gaga:
Now if only i could grow my hair long enough to make a bow...

It's an honor just to be nominated.
Blog written by Simon (Senior stylist at Hairroin Salon)
Driving to the Roosevelt Hotel and looking for parking hours before the beginning of the oscars, was not the easiest thing to do. Because of the security, I had to park about six blocks away, and walk with all my tools and product.
I entered the lobby of the Roosevelt a little sweaty and nervous about what awaited me. We had been called by the concierge and informed that two women needed hair and makeup done because they would be attending the prestigious event. I was instructed on what room to go to, given a key that allowed me access into the elevators, and before I knew it I was whisked up eight flights to a room number I had written on the back of some Roosevelt Hotel stationary.
I was greeted at the door by the sweetest two women I've ever met. One was from Australia and the other from New Zealand. They had won a "hollywood dream trip" in which they had to explain a time that their best friend had done something horrible to them. They told me the winning story, which reminded me of how many horrible things I've done to my friends, and we cracked up and got started.
I did two very elegant looks on them, to keep with the whole hollywood starlet vibe their weekend demanded.
Stacy was there to hold it down on the makeup end, which she did a phenomenal job at, and the two women were transformed into even more delights then when they opened the door.
They thanked us and we were on our way. By the time I got back to my VW, I realized that the walk back had seemed so much shorter.
There's something about helping somebody reach their true potential that makes all the walking, and stressing, and not knowing, melt away to the point that allows me to I reflect on how special my job is. Getting to do hair that is going to be walking down the red carpet! How cool!
I only hope our two starlets had as much fun with us as we did with them.
