'What Goes Around Comes Around' 1-Year Anniversary In Hollywood

We found some great articles for the LA Fashion Week event that Hairroin Salon did at the fabulous store : What Goes Around Comes Around .  Hairroin did all the make up and hair for the live mannequins staged up in the front.

The below quote is from the article at LA.COm : 'What Goes Around Comes Around' 1-Year Anniversary In Hollywood :: Olivia Munn, Janine Jarman

"Hair and make-up on the elaborate, multi-model display was styled by WGACA's Cahuenga neighbor Hairroin -- a beautiful, pseudo-Victorian, Beetlejuice meets Anthropologie vibed salon owned by the adorably bite-sized and firecely big-time Janine Jarman (who's killing it on Shear Genius this season)."

Taryn, from Blog.Blush.com writes in her article LA Fashion Week: What Goes Around Comes Around Vintage Fashion Show :

Photo from Taryn from Blog.Blush.com

"As a Long Beach resident I am treated to totally fantastic and ridiculously budget friendly vintage fashion pretty much every time I step outside of my house. In fact, my favorite haunt, dubbed Retro Row, is a whole block of particularly amazing vintage clothes and furniture shops that is used quite often as the first pit stop for Mad Men set designers and costume designers. Being this spoiled makes it a bit difficult for me to get too thrilled about having to venture all the way to Hollywood for a vintage fix. So when I got the invite to the What Goes Around Comes Around Fashion Week launch event, I was excited, but not completely convinced it would be worth the drive. Boy was I wrong!!!"

Laurie Brucker, from Examiner.com wrote in her article What Goes Around Comes Around Hollywood celebrates it's one year anniversary
“I love the mix of plaids, leather, fur, a pop of a tiger-esque print and open toe booties. Then entrè into a Moroccan themed land of bohemia. Moroccan meets Native American, as Seth put it. The scene was exactly what you wanted with serious fashionistas, vintage lovers, and celebrities laughing, drinking, mingling amongst the to-die-for clothes.”

Recap of Shear Genius 3 Episode 7

A great recap of Shear Genius Season 3 episode 7 is here at She Knows which is a reality tv magazine.

Taken from Sheknows:

"Judges Jonathan Antin, Kim Vo, Estelle and host Camila Alves are impressed with the style chosen, however, they were not impressed with Matthew’s client because you could see her roots. They said Brian missed the mark on his client, who Jonathan said looked like a heroin addict. Next the Judges ripped apart Brig, and she tries to stand up to Jonathan which was a big mistake, telling her he could have done her hairstyle in six minutes. Brian’s hairstyle was also a hit with the judges. However, there can be only one winner of this challenge on Shear Genius on Bravo. Janine and Jon are told to come forward by the judges as the top two contestants. Ultimately, Janine is chosen as the winner, which seems to happen alot. But this also means one person must go, and the bottom two are Brig and Brian. You can tell the remaining stylists want Brig to finally be cut. In a shocking decision, they decide that it is the final cut for Brian, who is sent home. I, for one, cannot believe that Brig is still in this competition."

We were really sad to see Brian go home.

Tune in next week!

Recap of Shear Genius 3 Episode 5

Blog written by Janine Jarman (Owner of Hairroin Salon) And contestant on Shear Genius 3

I'm going to make this post short.

Wow,

Started out well for me, (as I managed to make up for the very first challenge bob I did) and took first in the short cut challenge.  But ended with me almost going home.  Stating I was "not at the top of my game" that day is an understatement.  1940's style pin up hair is some of my favorite hair to do, and I was really dissappointed with myself at the outcome of this one.  Not much left to say.  Wish I had more time, but that's what this show is all about, time crunching.  No excuses, just rub some dirt in the wound and keep truckin.

One quick note...I feel very, very, very, sorry for this model.  Growing this haircut out would be a NIGHTMARE.
