For Arianne Zucker’s Daytime Emmy look, I started with Sebastian Thickefy Foam at the root and Stylixir through the ends. I gave her a classic Hairroin Foxy Blowdry. Then using Haute Hollywood Locks I enhanced her length. I shampooed and preset the extensions on one inch bender rollers for a soft natural curl pattern. As I put the extensions in I used an Enzo Milano conical rod to blend the extensions with Ari’s hair. The end result is a voluminous cascade of soft curls.

Summer has finally hit LA full force and I couldn't take my natural color any longer. I was inspired by what I'm seeing on the street and in the salon around me. Summer is a great time to lighten up a bit so Beatrice hit me with a full out Balayage. Hand painted highlights are more natural looking even than foiling because there are no hard lines or "streaks". The overall effect is that nature took its course. My goal was color that looked like I've been driving around with the top down too often or, God willing, at the beach for a couple of weeks surfing and running in the sand. Check it out.

Theater in LA.

Contrary to popular belief, Los Angeles is a theater town. The theater scene in Los Angeles is thriving and I am lucky enough to be involved. In March I worked with Nikki Del Homme designing the hair, wigs and makeup for the production of Ibsen’s “Ghosts” at The Noise Within Theater in Glendale. I was also fortunate to get calls for the Deaf West production of “Pippin” at the Mark Taper Forum and “Lydia”, designed by Carol Doran, also at the Taper. This spring also found me at the Pasadena Playhouse for “Stormy Weather” and “Mauritius”. I worked extensively with Harrison White to perfect his wig for the role of Herod in “Jesus Christ, Superstar” at the CLOSBC in Redondo Beach.
I love working with designers and actors to help create a look that moves the character forward in a subliminal way. So much of what we see on stage is synthesis between the senses. Actors, directors, designers collaborate on a vision of the production that transports the audience. I am proud to help with this journey and we all need to support the creative process to keep LA alive. Go out, see a show, write a show, get involved!

On March 2 preliminary nominations for the Daytime Emmys were announced. Three of the actresses that I style on "Days of Our Lives" made the cut. I'm really excited for Arianne Zucker, Molly Burnett and Lauren Koslow. I have so much fun working on set with them and the rest of the cast! Best of Luck!
