On April 1st our very own Ashlee Berry did a photo shoot with creative photographer Darion Ko with make up by Janelle Faretra They took model and client Marina Gostraya, and shot at a beautiful beach house in Malibu.

Arielle Shapiro gave Marina a lovely wardrobe, while  Ashlee gave Marina a soft beachy mermaid look by using Sebastian Pro products. The products she used were Potion 9, Shine Define, and re-shaper.

These photos are stunning! If you can't get enough of the photos... check out John Young's behind the scenes video!

Stylist of the month: Sully

Spring has Sprung and we are in full BLOOM over at Hairroin salon! I'm extremely excited for the warm weather in LA and all the fun, fresh changes that come along with it; Summer Fashion, Pool Parties and Fresh new Haircolor and cuts!

Favorite Hairstyles of the Season:
DISCO Revival (Sountrack: Poolside)
The 70's are making a comeback, with lots of Gold, shimmery metallics, sleek and long silhouettes, and even bellbottoms!

Hair on the runway has been sleek, straight, with a clean center part (As seen on Missoni SS13 collection)
*To recreate this look, part hair down center, Prep hair with Sacha Juan's Straight and shine Thermal Heat Protector and flat iron for a sleek look.  If you have extra wavy/curly hair you can blow dry the hair using Sacha Juan's Straight Out Gel and a Large boar bristle/flat paddle brush to get the extra kink out. Apply a little bit of Davines No.10 Universal Polishing coat on ends and flyaways to finish.

Or worn in big fluffy fro curls (Solange is a great example of a great natural full curl texture)
*To recreate this look, Shampoo and Condition Hair with a Curl enhancing product like Davines' Love Shampoo and Conditioner for Curly Hair.

Towel dry hair to absorb excess moisture, prep hair with a conditioning styling treatment with some hold like Sebastian's Potion 9 (a favorite among both stylists and curly haired clients). Twirl the hair in medium sized sections and diffuse dry to about 80% dry. Let air dry remainder of the way and pull appart the curls once completely dry. Fluff hair out with a wide toothed comb to desired volume and shape. Finish with Sebastian's Re-Shaper Hairspray for a touchable hold.

Stylist Specialty: Vibrant Color and Creative color placement. Color Corrections.  Editorial hair Styling with attention to texture and detail.

Favorite Current Haircolor: Mint/ Seafoam Green
*Wella Formula for Professional Stylists:
Prebleach hair to a Level 9 and (For Natural Levels 6 and below pre-tone to cancel out any strong warm tones Wella Color Touch half 10/81 and half 8/81 with 6vol. developer. is  a great one). Then Tone with Wella Koleston Special Mix. .05oz. /28 for every 1oz. Pastel Developer. Apply quickly and rinse once you have reached your desired tone. Seal in the color and balance PH levels for a longer lasting pastel tone with Wella Blondor Seal and Care immediately after.
**Tips: It is preferable if the color is a shade or two darker once first applied to allow for a soft, longer lasting fade out process. :)

New Stylist Rae!

We have a surprise for you guys starting March 21st! We’re adding a creative new stylist! Meet Rae: Not only does she have a ton of experience in cosmetology, she’s also gotten recognition from Chicago Magazine, and Refinery 29!

Since she was little she knew she had a creative spark for hair and makeup. She didn’t see it has just a career path, but a work of art! Motivated, and ready with her natural talent ready to blossom, she was ready to make a name for herself. Going to cosmetology school wasn’t enough, she also attended classes, and even found tips and tricks from her favorite blogs.

She quickly made a name for herself by going from just regular stylist to Director Stylist, and Director of Mens Education within 7 years at a Chicago-based salon, which was voted Best Salon of 2012 by Chicago Magazine. With her eagerness to expand, she’s earned spots in advanced education classes in NYC, LA, Barcelona, Denver, and Chicago... each experience moving her just further up the beauty industry ladder. She even landed herself a spot on the national design team for MENSDEPT.

Always needing to be challenged, and always evolving Relocated to Los Angeles in January 2013. Soon after her move she met celebrity stylist Ramsell Martinez, who is currently represented Streeters, Inc., with editorial features in Elle, Vogue, V, Nylon, and other prominent publications. Rae, working alongside Martinez, learned the ins and outs of editorial, video, and photo shoot production and is quickly gaining her own clientele.

From the experience she learned “Less is more” As her portfolio builds, Rae continues to flourish. There isn't an aspect of styling, platform education or editorial work that she isn't ready to conquer, and her philosophy is guaranteed to keep her ahead of the pack - "Try everything at least once. You'll either love it or learn from it."
