Hair Heros.
Every year we make up a mix cd to give out to our clients. Each employee of Hairroin Salon picks out a song and we make up a very ecclectic playlist to give out to our clients. The cd'c cover art features a photo of all of us! each year we choose a different theme for our salon portraits. In the past we have done circus freaks, cholos &cholas, and this year we chose superheros! We found it very fitting since we are all hair heros!
We shot our photos on the roof of a downtown loft, and all got into character of our own made up hair super heros!
We took these photos a few weeks ago...
This weekend we will finish shooting the rest of the staff, should be fun!
Our cds should be available in December, as a gift to all of our clients. Its a really great compilation this year, i can't wait!

art show, November 8th
Join us at Hairroin Salon, November 8 for "Gears, Gears, Gears: a steampunk burlesque" an art show by Jessica Van Hulle. Admission is free, and so is the champagne!
Jessica Van Hulle’s artwork is full of passion and conviction. In her latest exhibit, “Gears Gears Gears: A Steampunk Burlesque,” Van Hulle renders subcultural beauties in cheeky pin-up poses and provocative portraits.
However, these vibrant oil paintings are more than just sexy eye-candy. They feature intense themes of self-image, sexual power, authenticity, and hope on the edge of apocalypse.
They are about reclaiming individuality and using creative energy to nurture healthy women with healthy psyches and robust sensuality.
Van Hulle's work invites re-evalution of the constrictive mainstream images of beauty that inundate us daily. She hopes that viewers will feel opened up, inspired, hopeful….and just a little naughty.
Jessica Van Hulle was born in San Francisco in 1979. She grew up in the East Bay, raised by an architect and a psychic. She lived in S.F. for 5 years, receiving her B.F.A. in Illustration in 2004 from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco.
Van Hulle has been honored nationally for her artwork. Her work has been displayed in San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Seattle WA, Berkeley CA and more. She has been participating in installing, curating, selling, consulting, teaching, illustrating and painting fine art professionally since 2001.
She currently lives in West L.A. and spends her weekdays as a lingerie and costume designer at Leg Avenue, Inc. Every other time, she can be found pondering human nature, painting, and hanging out watching subversive cartoons.
opening night will be November 8th at 8:00pm at Hairroin Salon
1553 Cahuenga blvd.

Every stylist at Hairroin Salon is getting ready for NAHA!
NAHA (North American Hairdressing Awards) is basically the Academy Awards of the hairdressing world.
We have spent many nights brainstorming photoshoot concepts together, and even visited the Los Angeles Contemporary Museum of Art for artistic inspiration!
here are some photos from when we presented our ideas to one another on a class night...
Last year our boss, Janine Jarman, was nominated for her entry in the Avant Guarde catagory. Hopefully this year one of us will win! Right now we are looking for models for our various photoshoots. If you are interested in being a hair model for us, let us know! email info@hairroinsalon.com or call Hairroin at 323.467.0392.
