product Junkie.

blog written by Marcy (Master stylist at Hairroin Salon)

I would like to say that I love RF 80! I have a client who had a baby six months ago and her hair is coming out by the handful. Usually about 4 months after the birth of your child your hair starts going through it's resting phase which it didn't do for your entire pregnancy. So it's shocking. I prescribed her the complex 5, forticea shampoo, and rf 80. First you massage complex 5 into your scalp and leave it for 20 min. This will stimulate your scalpand strenghten your hair. Next you shampoo with forticea and condition with the fioravante vinegar rinse. Towel dry and massage an ampule of rf 80 into your scalp dry your hair as you normally do - youdo this for 3 months once a week and watch your hair become awsome. I have seen my clients hair come back almost better than before. Her hair was really fine and brittle now it's healthy and shiny. She is so happy. Thanks to RF 80. You rule!

men's accessories part 2

blog writtten by Patrick (Senior stylist at Hairroin Salon)

Knowing that I'm an accessory junkie, no one will be surprised that I have a found a jewelry designer that I cannot get enough of. Alika Rocks produces an assortment of accessories that combine semiprecious stones and diverse religious icons. Alika sources his materials in Thailand, where he spends time each year. I love his work because it is versatile and unusual, each piece is handcrafted and one of a kind. He rotates his selection at Hairroin about once a quarter so that we have a completely new inventory regularly.

This past weekend i went to see No Doubt in concert. I've always been a fan of Gwen Stefani's hair and I was happy to see that even in her (gasp) 40's, that she still pulls off her edgy hair styles as gracefully as she did in the Tragic Kingdom days. I think over the years she has really streamlined her whole look, and I wanted to post some photos to pay homage to a few of Gwen's lovely do's over the years.

keep it up Gwen, and maybe we'll all forget about this awful blue haired number you tried to pull on us...

product Junkie.

blog written by Marcy (Master stylist at Hairroin Salon)

I was just thinking about my favorite shampoo. I can't narrow it down to just one so- I'll have to go on about a few. The first one is the love shampoo from Davines. Just the name says it all. I like the one for curly hair. It smells like grapefruit- yum! It isn't just for curly hair, but it's also for dry hair. It makes my hair feel great and smell fantastic- and it's not too heavy. Next I'll have to go with the sun shampoo by rene fertuer. This shampoo is like luxury in a bottle- why just have awsome hair on vacation. I used it In Hawaii last year then just never stopped. Last on my list is nounou by Davines - they really know how to make a nice cleanser. This shampoo is super nourishing and moisturizing - it even makes bleached hair feel like hair. I alternate these three shampoos in my shower. I can't tell you which I love more- so I use them all and love them all.

Theater in LA.

Blog written by Patrick (Senior Stylist at Hairroin Salon)
Contrary to popular belief, Los Angeles is a theater town. The theater scene in Los Angeles is thriving and I am lucky enough to be involved. In March I worked with Nikki Del Homme designing the hair, wigs and makeup for the production of Ibsen’s “Ghosts” at The Noise Within Theater in Glendale. I was also fortunate to get calls for the Deaf West production of “Pippin” at the Mark Taper Forum and “Lydia”, designed by Carol Doran, also at the Taper. This spring also found me at the Pasadena Playhouse for “Stormy Weather” and “Mauritius”. I worked extensively with Harrison White to perfect his wig for the role of Herod in “Jesus Christ, Superstar” at the CLOSBC in Redondo Beach.
I love working with designers and actors to help create a look that moves the character forward in a subliminal way. So much of what we see on stage is synthesis between the senses. Actors, directors, designers collaborate on a vision of the production that transports the audience. I am proud to help with this journey and we all need to support the creative process to keep LA alive. Go out, see a show, write a show, get involved!

Sarah donates her NAHA entry to a great cause.

blog written by Sarah (Master stylist at Hairroin Salon)

I entered NAHA this year in the haircolor category. The concept for my color story was making crazy wild colors have a "natural feel" by creating a gradual transition from a darker shade at the base to a lighter, more faded hue at the ends. My models were great and really put their trust in me to take their looks to the extreme. Hairroin make-up artist Cambria Serrano worked her magic with them and made them look so beautiful, and the incredible Dana Maione is the mastermind behind the gorgeous lighting and photography!! I really really love how it turned out.

I was not chosen as a finalist in the contest however, so I have decided to donate my creations to someone who could really use them!

Amber Rose, the gorgeous model gracing the arm of Kanye West as of late, is a stunning baldy but come on, we are hairstylists. We can't help but envision a beauty such as her with some long flowing locks. We love her adventuresome style and obsession with spandex (must I remind you of our "Spandex Saturdays" promotion last summer) and I really think she can pull off the bright colors. So with the help of a little photochopping and WITHOUT further ado...

Enjoy Amber :) Damn it feels good to be a giver!

Special thanks to Christopher, love of my life, for the photoshopping skills ❤

Classic Hairstyles Sweep the Red Carpet @Met Ball:

blog written by Sarah (Master stylist at Hairroin Salon)
For those of you who don’t know, New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Gala (otherwise known as the “Met Ball”) is THE most prestigious event for fashion insiders to show off their style. Celebrities and Fashion Icons walk the red carpet in their most flamboyant, decadent, sometimes downright zany get ups. I took a look at this year’s arrival photos and was struck by the similarities I saw in the hairstyles being worn by our fashion idols…

New York was certainly channeling Old Hollywood Glamour at this early May extravaganza. Here are some examples of looks that would undoubtedly catch the approval of Marilyn Monroe and Veronica Lake, these classic styles definitely hold a special place in my heart!

doutzen kroes

agyness deyn
Perhaps its no coincidence that the theme of this year's Gala is: The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion, complete with accompanying book...

Linda Evangelista sure is looking a lot like Marilyn herself in this cover portrait!

Agyness Deyn and Kate Bosworth are my personal faves, they really nail the look with such ferocity!

Hairroin joins forces with Sebastian.

blog written by Marcy (Master Stylist at Hairroin Salon)
Here's the situation. Salon Hairroin was looking for a product company to work with on extra activities- fashion shows, photo shoots, etc... So long story short, we got an opportunity to show sebastian/wella what we were about. They were looking for a team to handle some of their fun stuff and we hoped we could fill their void as well as get some help with our product need. So we put together a team and put together some looks for a two hour presentation. Here's how it went...
We had four haircut and color looks and three updo looks.
For the haircuts and color we broke down the looks into four cities- tokyo, sweden, bombay, and la villa de guadalupe. the looks were all inspired by the cities culture and the street fashion there. Sweden was a short haircut good for men and women. Bombay was a medium length haircut with an undercut on both sides. Tokyo was a haircut within a haircut - kind of an aline bob on top of a long cut. la villa de guadalupe is a super textured medium length fun, crazy wild look. We broke down the looks and talked a little bit about our own personal history as well as our place within the salon team. We finished off the program with our debutant looks. We chose looks from the 40's 60's, and 80's. We revisited the beauty of those years, but gave them a modern feel.
We were all really nervous going into this 2 hour presentation, but once it began we all felt really good. We had a great time and the entire presentation just came together. I think that it had something to do with the fact that Sarah had done a complete power point video and sound track for us. Thanks Sarah- you rip!
Sebastian loved our presentation. Our first assignment for them is the Young hollywood Awards. I can't wait to show what we've got and just have a good time. I think we are going to start video blogging so you all can watch first hand... Get excited! Salon Hairroin is killin' it!

blog written by Reyna (Junior stylist at Hairroin Salon)

the model that could not show up on Saturday we rescheduled to Monday.
Her name is Victoria, she was super sweet!
I was not able to take another day off of work so the crew; Kristy, Monica, Art, and Brandon; came to meet me at the salon. I was really happy to welcome my crew to the salon. They got to hang out while I got Victoria ready.
Once she was ready, they all took of to go make magic happen. I meet up with them later in the afternoon. To catch the black and white series.
Here are some snap shots from that day. I hope you enjoy.

www.effieliu.com

blog written by F. E. Liu (client at Hairroin Salon)
this blog was originally written for EffieLiu.com.

my name is effie and im addicted to hairroin.
everybody, meet beatrice!!!!!

beatrice dejong is one of many talented hairstylists over at hairroin salon in hollywood, california. i paid her a visit today for a root touch-up, and as usual, she did a great job!

i think what i love about this place is that they are completely true to their mission statement. they have successfully created a “unique ‘un-salon’ environment” in which everyone is treated with personalized attention in terms of what is best for them. along with awesome hair experiences and hair products, they also sell hairroin merch (shirts, ties, and other stuff!) for the serious hairroin addict, as well as pretty jewelry and fancy hats.

i found this place over a year ago, when i was going through a hair emergency -- my hair was supposed to be platinum blonde, but it was yellow, orange, and rust, and i pretty much looked like a tiger!! beatrice fixed my wild animal hair, and i’ve been hooked on hairroin ever since!!!! ahh!! i love it!!! and beatrice rules!!

hairroin. get your fix. doooo eeeeeet.
