Janine Jarman's Shoulder Tattoo

Hello folks! It’s been a crazy last few weeks! We at Hairroin Salon have received over 50 emails in the last few weeks about the tattoo on Janine Jarman's shoulder.

Asking to see better pics, what/who inspired it, and who it was done by. We finally had some time to snap off a few close ups and thought I would post them for you all to see. Let her know on
Janine Jarman's Facebook page if you have any questions that you want her to answer as well!

1. When did you get the tattoo on your shoulder? About two years ago.
2. What exactly is it? It’s a collective of ideas that was mainly inspired by my Grandmother (the heart doilies ), and one of my favorite artists : Kukula
3. How long did it take to get finished? I actually went in twice, once for the black and white which took about three hours, then again another time for the rest of the color. The color took about another two and a half hours.
4. Where did you get it done and by whom? Neil from Classic Tattoo Studio. His shop is in Upland California. While there are tons of amazing artists here in LA, this guy is beyond amazing. Their address is 1710 W. Foothill Blvd. Suite F1 Upland, CA 91786 and the phone number is 909-949-7971. If you have the time to go sit down with Neil, then you are in luck. He is a genius, and one of the nicest people ever. His myspace is click here for Classic Tattoo Studio .
5. Do you have any other tattoos? Haha, too many to tell. I have a huge corset lace tattoo covering most of my back, as well as a bunch of little tattoos.
6. Can we see the corset tattoo? Sure. 

Saturday's art show, Bye Bye Birdie

This Saturday Hairroin Salon hosts Vanae Rivera's first solo show in Los angeles.
here are some previous works by Mary and the Machine, and a little bio from the artist
Vanae Mary Rivera
a.k.a. Mary and the Machine

....Vanae Mary Rivera.... Landed with a thud in Santa Barbara by way of Salt Lake City, Utah. (not Mormon yet loved by Jebus) Grew up drawing on paper plates while making tea cups of foil. Conned her way into a one way plane ticket to paradise.... Her obsessive passion for graffiti and any flavor street are began as a teen and has influenced her current work. Her study of graphic design is only interrupter by invites to join in the swirl of art shows. Vanae prefers the raw rattle of a can, a few brushed of India ink and can be found in her warehouse studio, music on eleven, tearing into multiple creations at once. Branding her character Mary and the MAchine, the stenciled statement is true and engaging, well calculated yet straight off the cuff. Mary is on the rise and is showing up all across the globe. The wearable apparel is the slice of Rivera's expression that fans of M.A.T.M. walk away with... Approach with caution, small with sharp fangs..

animal hair!

blog written by Beatrice (Senior Stylist at Hairroin Salon)

I found these photos a while ago and thought i'd share them with everyone.
These are little animal shaped hats made completely out of hair by the late Nagi Noda.
In the past, Nagi Noda has been responsible for some amazing art projects, so to see her build these animals out of hair was really inspiring to me. I'm still not sure how she did it!?
The elephant is my favorite! i wish she had made a panda :)

Sylvia Ji

blog written by Janine (Owner of Hairroin Salon)

Sylvia Ji is a kick ass artist! Sylvia just had a show sat night in culver city, the line was out the door! Rightfully so, Sylvia is a client of mine and a large source of insparation. i have a few of her prints and well as an original. i did a photo shoot with makeup artist, Noel Nichols inspired by her sugar skull foxy lady paintings.
Dalina from hairroin has a tattoo of one of her paintings. I am definately a fan of silvia ji... i love how she draws hair, captures the essence of a woman... and is just all around a kick ass artist! so do yourself a favor and check her work out
